A Win For Caylee

The mother of missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony made her initial court appearance Wednesday morning on first-degree murder and other charges.

Casey Anthony, 22, faced an Orange County judge at about 9 a.m. EDT with her attorney Jose Baez. She wore a blue prison jumpsuit

No “hot bod” there.

and said nothing except “yes” during the minute-long hearing. She nodded as the charges against her were read before being led away.

Anthony was indicted Tuesday afternoon on the charges by a grand jury after an exhaustive four-month-long investigation into her daughter’s whereabouts.

Caylee’s body has never been found. She has been missing since mid-June and would have turned 3 two months after she disappeared.

A 19-member Florida grand jury issued the seven-count indictment, charging Anthony with aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators in addition to murder. She was arrested shortly thereafter and is being held without bond.

Anthony could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.

Police recently identified Anthony as a suspect in the case, though she had been called a person of interest since the investigation began in mid-July.

Caylee’s family didn’t report her missing for a month after she vanished. Police have said they think the child is dead based on evidence of a decomposing body found in the trunk of a Pontiac Sunfire her mother was driving.

A few hours before the indictment was issued, Anthony stood silently, sometimes crying, as her attorney told reporters his client is innocent.

“Casey is going through a nightmare and has been living a nightmare for the last seven months,” Baez said. “I sincerely believe that when we have finally spoken, everyone, and I mean everyone, will sit back and say, ‘Now, I understand. That explains it.’”

“When we have finally spoken???” WTF? She’s had seven damned months to speak! She’s done nothing by lie and misguide the police. Why the hell would her attorney wait until MURDER charges are brought and then say, “Oh, this has been a little misunderstanding. Once we get to trial and the TRUE story comes out, everyone will understand and everything will be okay. BULL-F*CKING SHIT!

He said prosecutors and police “threw the kitchen sink at her a long time ago.”

The grand jury heard evidence Tuesday about the charges against Anthony, including testimony from the child’s paternal grandfather.

George Anthony was subpoenaed to testify about the odor of human decomposition coming from his daughter’s white Pontiac, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.

“This is going to be very hard for me to do,” an emotional George Anthony said outside the Orange County Courthouse before going in Tuesday morning. “My focus is on my granddaughter — it always has been. … Just pray for her. That’s all I’m asking for.”

His spokesman told reporters that he was doing the “unthinkable” by testifying in the case against his daughter and asked the press to be respectful of his privacy.

The grand jury was also presented with evidence about the discovery of chloroform during the investigation and about hair samples and stains found in Anthony’s trunk, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

Casey Anthony, her attorney and her mother Cindy Anthony were all at the closed-door grand jury session.

The child’s grandmother first called authorities in July to say that she hadn’t seen Caylee for a month and her daughter’s car “smelled like a dead body.”

Is this the same mother that refuses to explain her daughter’s actions while her granddaughter was missing? Is this the same mother that diverted that question on the TODAY show? Is this the same mother that tells her daughter nobody is looking for Caylee while Equus has spent a fortune looking? Is this the same mother that is defending her daugter STILL after this sickening evidence is brought to grand jury? This mother is just as sick as her daughter.

Casey Anthony told authorities she had left her daughter with a baby sitter in June and the two were gone when she returned from work. She says she spent the next month trying to find her daughter and didn’t call authorities because she was scared.

Investigators immediately started poking holes in her story. The apartment where Casey Anthony said she had left her daughter had been vacant for months, they said. They said she also lied when she told them she had been working at an area theme park as a photographer.

God bless little Caylee where ever she may be found, hopefully, but probably not, alive. May the trial bring forth true justice, and may Casey rot in hell.

Something rotten in Denmark?

This is just not right!

“Dad, she’s close,” George Anthony said his 22-year-old daughter, Casey, told him during a jailhouse visit on Sunday, according to MyFOXOrlando.com. “Dad, she’s close.”

This case is really stinking to high Heaven! First Casey’s not cooperating with police. She says she’ll talk with the FBI because she doesn’t trust the local police. (I haven’t seen a report that would eloborate on that statement).

Friends have reported a very long history of lies.

Pictures surface of her alleged clubbing while her daughter is missing????

Finally, is it just me, or do you feel the demeanor of the whole family is just odd, for a family missing a daughter, granddaughter and niece?

I, as does the country, pray for little Caylee’s safety and return, despite the very strange family.

Oklahoma Lawmaker Objects to Getting Koran as Gift
Monday, October 22, 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma lawmaker is objecting to getting a copy of the Koran from the Governor’s Ethnic American Advisory Council.

“I object to the use of the state Centennial Seal and the state Seal all in an effort to further their religion,” state Representative Rex Duncan said Monday.

As well he should!

Duncan also wrote his colleagues that he rejected the gift because “most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology.”

Most HUMANS do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology!

Marjaneh Seirafi-Pour, chairwoman of the governor’s council and a Muslim, said she received a call from Duncan wondering whether state money was used to buy the books.

She told the Tulsa World newspaper that members of the Muslim community paid for the copies.

A reasonable question. Lord knows you can’t use taxpayer dollars to purchase Bibles!

“We are not trying to force anything on anyone. This is a peaceful, thoughtful project to introduce ourselves to leaders,” she said.

The “peaceful” religion….and don’t you F-ING forget it!

Earlier, lawmakers also received a copy of the Bible sponsored by The Baptist General Convention in Oklahoma.

“Mine is proudly on my desk on the Capitol and I don’t think I ever read a part of it that condones the killing of women and children in furtherance of God’s word,” Duncan said. “It’s one of the nicest things I’ve received in my three years in the Legislature.”

Amen, brother….amen!

Chester Arthur Stiles, Videotaped, alleged child rapist, but still a convicted douche. Coming soon to a Pound Me In The Ass Prison Near You

Chester Arthur Stiles, the man identified in a videotape “allegedly” raping a three year old girl, has been arrested by police.

LAS VEGAS - Police said late Monday they had arrested Chester “Chet” Arthur Stiles, the man accused of videotaping himself while raping a 3-year-old girl.

So much for his ex-girlfriend’s claim that he’d “never be taken alive by the police.”

And what a pity it is that he was taken alive by the police. On the other hand, if convicted and sent to prison, we have the gratification of knowing that he’ll be on the receiving end of the horrors he visited (allegedly, conveniently videotaped) on a three year old girl.

Artist Seeks Subjects for Nude Shoot on Swiss Glacier
Wednesday, July 18, 2007

ZURICH, Switzerland — Wanted: volunteers willing to take their clothes off and have their picture taken on a freezing cold Alpine glacier.

The appeal by New York artist Spencer Tunick, famous for taking pictures of thousands of naked people in public settings worldwide, is intended for a photo shoot to highlight the effects of climate change on Switzerland’s shrinking glaciers, environmental group Greenpeace said on its Web site Wednesday.

I’m simply appalled at the increasing number of people taking advantage of our poor, dying planet.

Greenpeace said if global warming continues at its current pace, most Swiss glaciers will disappear by 2080.

When Greenpeace speaks…….do people really listen? Besides, the author here says it’s going to be FREEZING COLD!

The photo-shoot, which follows Tunick’s previous shoots in London, Mexico City and Amsterdam, will take place in August at an undisclosed location in Switzerland.

Oh sure…..August!

Prospective candidates from further afield will have to start making travel arrangements now. “We aim to make this a climate-friendly event, so please come by public transport and don’t fly,” Greenpeace said.

Isn’t flying considered “public transport”, and if there’s a plane going there anyway….

Happy Birthday, USA!

Irving Berlin, 1918; revised 1938

Spoken Introduction:

“While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.”

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains To the prairies,
To the ocean white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

The unofficial national anthem of the United States was composed by an immigrant who left his home in Siberia for the USA when he was only five years old. The original version of “God Bless America” was written by Irving Berlin (1888-1989) during the summer of 1918 at Camp Upton, located in Yaphank, Long Island, for his Ziegfeld-style revue, Yip, Yip, Yaphank. “Make her victorious on land and foam, God Bless America…” ran the original lyrics. However, Irving decided that the solemn tone of “God Bless America” was somewhat out of keeping with the more comedic elements of the show, so the song was laid aside.

LEARN TO PLAY PIANO. In the fall of 1938, as war was again threatening Europe, he decided to write a “peace” song. He recalled his lyrics of “God Bless America” from twenty years earlier, then made some alterations to reflect the different state of the world. Singer Kate Smith introduced the revised “God Bless America” during her radio broadcast on Armistice Day, 1938. The song was an immediate sensation; the sheet music was in great demand.

Berlin’s file of manuscripts & lyric sheets for this quintessentially American song includes manuscripts in the hand of his longtime musical secretary, Helmy Kresa (he himself did not read and write music), as well as lyric sheets, and corrected proof copies for the sheet music.

These materials document not only the speed with which this song was revised, but also its author’s attention to detail. The first proof copy is dated October 31, 1938; the earliest “final” version of the song is a manuscript dated November 2; and Kate Smith’s historic broadcast took place on November 11. So, documents show the song’s step-by-step evolution from the original version of 1918 to the tune we now know.

The manuscripts mentioned above are part of the Irving Berlin Collection, a remarkable collection that includes his personal papers as well as the records of the Irving Berlin Music Corp. It was presented to the Library of Congress in 1992, by his three daughters, Mary Ellin Barrett, Linda Louise Emmet, and Elizabeth Irving Peters.

What an amazing song! Isn’t it wonderful that we have been so lucky to be connected with people who are able to put to words our deepest thoughts and emotions? Irving Berlin was truly inspired. Close your eyes and listen to his message. Does it not touch your soul? Can’t you just see crashing waves- the majesty of the mountains? All of the beautiful people working every day, alive and free because of the dream of our beloved Founding Fathers?

As this song is being broadcasted through out the world on various occasions, there is this incredible overwhelming desire to jump up and sing with all the energy of the soul, knowing that if we did, the choirs of Heaven would be singing right along with us! Our people love our country, our Lord loves our country, and as long as we continue to fight for our gift of love and freedom, we will continue to enjoy the blessings of this, our sacred nation.

As with any song that strikes an emotional chord (be it sacred, gospel or patriotic tunes) I get goosebumps and choked up to the point that I can’t sing, but rather, cry. Every American should feel this way.

Mom of Molested Disabled Girl Gets Prison for Taking Money From Abuser

Despite an admission of guilt and a tearful apology, a Wilmington woman was sentenced Monday to 65 months in prison for accepting $10,000 in hush money from the man who sexually molested her severely disabled daughter.

The 33-year-old woman, whom the Tribune is not naming to protect her children, apologized to Will County Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak. “Most of all, I want to apologize to my children,” said the mother of three while softly crying.

You piece of shit. Five and a half years. You’re a lucky piece of shit. If I were judge, you wouldn’t see daylight ever again.

But Bertani-Tomczak noted the woman was sentenced to 30 months’ probation in 2003 for crashing her car while drunk and causing two of her children to sustain broken bones.

“It seems you’ve made seriously bad choices in your life that have had serious consequences for your children,” the judge said.

You piece of shit.

Lawrence Sommers, the woman’s attorney, said he would ask Bertani-Tomczak to reconsider her decision. “We believe the sentence is excessive,” he said.

You’re a piece of shit too.

The woman pleaded guilty in March to obstruction of justice and concealing a fugitive for accepting $10,000 from Lawrence Lee Southwood and agreeing not to tell authorities what she knew about the molestation.

Southwood, 69, is serving a 104-year prison term after a jury convicted him of sexually abusing the girl when she was 14.

“For $10,000, she’ll look the other way, not cooperate with police, while her daughter is being sexually assaulted by a pedophile,” Assistant State’s Atty. Lea Norbut said.

Southwood gets 104 years. They should have castrated the bastard and shoved it down his throat or up his ass.

Southwood befriended the woman and sometimes cared for her disabled daughter, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. At the trial of Southwood, who has a long history of sexual and violent crimes, the girl testified he repeatedly molested her in August and September 2005.

A day after accepting the money, the woman told Detective David Margliano she did not know of any sexual contact between Southwood and her daughter, prosecutors said.

“Her decision to take $10,000 to look the other way was an act of unconscionable greed and betrayal like I have never seen during my 28 years in the criminal justice system,” State’s Atty. James Glasgow said Monday.

The woman’s children are being cared for by an aunt and uncle under the supervision of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, according to testimony.

For about nine months after being arrested in January 2006, the woman was barred from seeing her children, testified Donald Adams Jr., a foster care case manager for Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Joliet, who is monitoring the children’s welfare.

The children’s behavior declined during that period, and there were regular disturbances, Adams said. When the mother was allowed to have weekly supervised visits, the disturbances decreased, he said.

Do the kids WANT to see their piece of shit mother?

The woman’s sister, boss and baby-sitter testified on her behalf, saying she would be able to comply with any conditions of probation — the sentence sought by Sommers.

“It would do the people of the State of Illinois no good to incarcerate this woman and cause further damage to her children,” Sommers said.

But Norbut noted the woman’s history. In addition to the drunken driving case, she was convicted in 1996 of driving with an unrestrained child and in 2003 of driving on a suspended license. Her children were under DCFS supervision for a time after the DUI crash, according to testimony.

Yeah, yeah….forgive and forget, right? Let’s not cause “further” damage to the kids by incarcerating their piece of shit mother.

I give up.

Random Thoughts…

Real life has a way of catching my attention lately! I just have a few random thoughts I wanted to get down…

Rachael Ray. Why did you go there? Why did you have to have Bubba on your show? Okay, so you want to help improve the health of children through healthy eating and all that, so you’re partnering with his organization. But you could have STILL done that and not subjected me to his presence on your talk show. I still have bad nightmares about that. But then I watched your show yesterday, covering the prom you delivered to the seniors at Enterprise, AL’s high school. You have a very big heart and did fabulous things to help these kids have a memorable prom that will hopefully ease some of the pain they’ve had losing eight of their friends and siblings. But we still need to talk about that whole Clinton thing, really. I’m just happy you had Laura Bush on your show FIRST!

Hubby has just celebrated his 3-year blogiversary! Stop over at his digs to wish him well!

Leave Brit Spears alone, okay? Mostly because I’m SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT. For that matter, the same thing applies to Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, Demi and Ashton, Prince William and Kate whatsername and all of the other people that seem to have every day things going on, they just pay 10 times more than you and I do for their weddings, their honeymoons, their divorces, their mascara. Oh, and WHO CARES ABOUT ROSIE O’DONNELL? It all happened the way it did for pure publicity and she will now have her pick of shows should she choose to go that route. I can’t STAND her, so I ignore her. I just hate seeing her nasty, snarly face pasted over all of the mags I read every week. There should be a WARNING on the magazine cover when she’s in it. Really!

…and that’s all for now!

A Proud Moment

I have been officially banned from the MLive Grand Rapids Forum: http://www.mlive.com/forums/grandrapids/index.ssf

I had been posting under the name given to me by Merri’s husband, the Stroosinator. I fit in pretty well amongst the numerous liberals, and I held my own with them. I believe they respected me for that!

But it wasn’t my political comments that got me canned for a day. Nor was it filthy language, which I would not use on that Forum (TOA).

Nope it was my three posts regarding Rosie O’Donnell (of all things). I simply stated that her FAT mouth finally did her in. (She’s no longer with The View as of June). After my first post was deleted, I posted again. And then a third time. Shame on me for being so insensitive (not like Rosie herself at the Ladies Awards Dinner where “Eat me”, and “F this, F that” was spewed forth with young adult women in the crowd)

Somebody there at the forum surely loves Rosie, but not me.

That’s fine. I’ll do my time in the slammer. But like most hardened criminals, I feel I’ll be back with a vengence.

Or my name isn’t STROOSINATOR!

Truck driver’s wife asks jury to spare his life for kids’ sake

HOUSTON The wife of a man convicted in the deaths of 19 people he was smuggling into the country has pleaded with jurors to spare his life.

Spare his life?

Tyrone Williams was convicted last month of smuggling immigrants in his truck. The 19 who died in the sweltering summer of 2003 were among 70 crammed into the trailer. The truck was abandoned about 100 miles southwest of Houston.

I stand 100% against illegal immigration BUT… These were STILL 19 human beings, out of 70, crammed like animals and left to die inside this sweatbox.

Karen Williams says she grew up without a father and doesn’t want her children to do likewise. Williams’ son and daughter also testified on his behalf.

What kind of a role model can this “father” be to his children while in prison for allowing the deaths of these 19 human beings?

Jurors could begin deliberations today on whether Williams gets the death sentence or up to life in prison.

I say spare the American taxpayer the cost of his incarceration, while springing to foot the bill of that wonderful chemical mixture.

Rest In Peace, Mr. President

Welcome home, Mr. President.

The plane carrying Ford’s casket landed at the airport that bears his name in Cascade Township.

People aligned the street near DeVos Place to say farewell to the former president.

I closed the office to join hundreds of mourners that lined the route from the airport to the highway. It was an awesome moment joining others in receiving Gerald “Our” Ford back to Grand Rapids.

The casket lies in the Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

GRAND RAPIDS — Gerald Ford arrived in his hometown for the final time a bit later than scheduled, but with all the ceremony necessary for a man who rose to become the 38th President of the United States.

The aircraft landed just before 3 p.m. in Grand Rapids. A short ceremony, including the University of Michigan marching band playing “Ruffles & Flourishes,” took place before the motorcade began its route to the Ford Museum.

Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Harry Dolan said although there will be traffic tie-ups and periodic street closures, everyone is invited to come down to pay their respects.

Thousands of mourners lined up along the motorcade route from the airport to the Ford Museum.

As the motorcade passed through one of the least pedestrian-friendly areas along the route — 28th Street and Patterson — thousands of people stood silently paying respects, waving gently

One mourner at that intersection told 24 Hour News 8 he came to witness “a bit of history. You never get to see this, otherwise.”

Mourners were also lined up along some of the I-96 overpasses and along the side on the berms on both sides of the road.

Veterans lined up along the Bridge Street bridge, often three-deep, to pay their respects to a fellow veteran. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts were also in formation, and Eagle Scouts honored the only Eagle Scout to become US President.

When the hearse passed in front of them, all stood silently at attention, honoring one of their own.

The motorcade reached the Ford Museum shortly after 4 p.m.

In the invocation delivered by Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell, he said, “though we mourn…we do not grieve without a purpose.” President Ford, he said, challenged this nation to adhere “to the highest standards of ethics and diplomacy, a guiding light to the world.”

Long time friend and a member of the Ford Foundation Mary Allen spoke briefly and quoted author James Cannon. “Grand Rapids,” he said, “a place from which a man can journey far and never leave.” He said Ford learned three rules that he lived by: tell the truth, work hard, and be on time for dinner.

“He learned how to be very competitive but learned how to respect his opponents,” maintaining “decency, integrity, civility and goodwill.” Through the years, Allen would greet Gerald Ford whenever he returned to the city. “I’d say, Welcome home, Mr. President, and he’d say, “It’s good to be home, Marty.”

Gov. Jennifer Granholm spoke “on behalf of our 10 million citizens. We are proud and honored to have you here…to the city where you and Betty were married, Betty in a $50 dress and you in muddy shoes.” She went on to say, “Sir, much has been said about your humility and simplicity, but we won’t let that fool us…You were an incredible human being wrapped in a plain brown wrapper.”

An interesting note; Jennifer Granholm (D) actually campaigned for Ford when he decided to run for a full term.

The governor then introduced University of Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman and Yale University president Richard Levin, representing the two universities where Ford earned degrees on his path to success.

The private ceremony ended as Mrs. Ford and the family left the Museum.

The public is now paying their respects to President Ford in repose, through 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Kiss my ass, Cindy Sheehan!

Parents of slain soldiers visit Iraq

LYERLY, Ga. After her son was killed in Iraq, Jan Johnson needed to see where he died and determine whether he died in vain.

So she, her husband and five other people traveled to Iraq last month as a scout team for a bigger trip next year.

The Johnsons were never able to go the Baghdad slum of Sadr City, where Justin Johnson was killed by a roadside bomb in April 2004.

But the travelers say they found a cause worth fighting for in the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq. Suicide bombers rarely strike there, and the insurgency has little support among minority Kurds who were oppressed by Saddam Hussein.

They say their sons were viewed as liberators and they were treated as heroes.

Debra Bastian’s son was killed in a plane crash in Iraq in May 2005. She met a woman whose two sons and husband were killed by Saddam. She says the woman accepted a photograph of Bastian’s son, tucked it in a framed picture of her lost loved ones and said, “now your son is my son.”

Why don’t you recognize your OWN son as a hero? Perhaps then your life wouldn’t be so miserable and you wouldn’t be jerked around by the groups that are constantly trying to tell us different!!!

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A 100-year-old woman who quietly amassed a vast fortune before her death last year left $35.6 million to local diabetes and cancer research.

Eugenia Dodson donated two-thirds of the money to the University of Miami’s Diabetes Research Institute, the largest gift in its 35-year history. The rest goes to the university’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“She didn’t want any recognition in her lifetime, so she directed her lawyer to keep it confidential,” said Dr. W. Jarrard Goodwin, director of the Sylvester Center. “I told her people would be grateful. She said, ’No, I don’t want anyone to know.”’

Dodson lost part of a lung to cancer, and her two brothers died from complications to diabetes, according to Donald Kubit, co-trustee of her fund.

Dodson’s husband had held a stake in a limestone quarry, which went to her after his death in 1949. While she could have afforded a more lavish lifestyle, she instead saved money by living in a small condo and refusing in-home care until she was nearly 100, Kubit said.

“She denied herself the trappings of wealth. She was dead-set on doing good for humankind,” Kubit said. “She had a big heart.”

All I can say is wow. I could, actually, say a WHOLE lot more, but I don’t think Eugenia would have wanted that.
